Child Nutrition

According to a research of National Health Survey, one in every four children in Bangladesh under the age of five is stunted. Besides, 22% of children under five years of age are underweight.

Although genetic factor plays a great role in determining weight and height of children, the importance of nutrition and balanced diet is significant. Apart from this, children also suffer a lot due to various illnesses, such as: loss of appetite, allergy, asthma, obesity, seasonal cold-flu, poor immunity, Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, bone diseases, and other development related problems. At our health center, our expert nutritionists are focused and committed enough to solve the problem. In addition, they provide balanced diet charts which are backed by science and research and ensure healthy weight gain of children.

According to a research, when a child is born, their brain is about 25% of the size of an adult brain. Moreover, 90% of brain growth happens before kindergarten. Lactating mothers should have a balanced diet and healthy meal plan to ensure brain development of their children. However, solid foods should be introduced after 6 months.

Pregnancy Nutrition

In Bangladesh, maternal malnutrition remains a significant problem, with high rates of anemia and other nutritional deficiencies. According to a research, 49.6% of pregnant women and 47.8% of lactating women are anemic in this country. Furthermore, 12% of women of reproductive age (15-49 years) are underweight.

We all know that a healthy mother gives birth to a healthy baby. A baby’s vision and brain start developing in the womb. That is why our licensed nutritionists take great care of the mothers and provide them with a balanced diet plan that ensures proper weight management during pregnancy. Apart from it, mothers will also get counselling service from a licensed physiotherapist. Moreover, the therapist will train and provide her with an exercise plan that will make her healthy and active.

Obesity

According to a study in 2014, the prevalence of obesity was found to be 13% and that of overweight was 11.5% amongst urban children aged between 2 to 10. According to a research, obesity in children can cause many health related problems, such as: type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, joint pain and high cholesterol. Besides, it can also lead to poor self-esteem and depression.

The body mass index (BMI), which provides a guideline of weight in relation to height, is the accepted measure of overweight and obesity. Our licensed nutritionists have great expertise regarding this and  they can use growth charts, the BMI and, if necessary, other tests to help you figure out if your child’s weight could pose health problems. They can also provide you with a balanced diet chart and meal plan to reduce obesity. Your child will also be guided by our expert physiotherapist who will provide counselling support and share some exercise plans.

According to a research of BDHS in 2014, around 23% of WRA ( Women of Reproductive Age) in Bangladesh were overweight and obese, with higher rates among urban women.Every year, a huge number of women and mothers suffer from overweight and obesity related issues. This situation is quite alarming and can cause many non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, joint pain, and high cholesterol etc.

Our expert nutritionist will provide counselling support and educate you regarding your food selection. Moreover, she will also provide you with science backed diet charts and meal plans to ensure healthy weight management. The diet charts ensure adequate intake of protein, vitamins, zinc, omega 3 fatty acids, iron , calcium and other essential nutrients. Autism Nutrition

Autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) refers to a group of neurodevelopmental disorders. According to a research, almost 2 in 1000 children suffer from ASD in Bangladesh. Usually, all symptoms of ASD appears between 18 to 36 months of age.

Delayed language and movement skills, delayed learning skills are the symptoms of autistic children.

At our health center, our expert nutritionists provide the patients with diet charts that include a balance of all food groups, including cereal, pulse, vegetables, fruits, nuts, meat, fish and seeds. The diet charts are backed by science and research and they include gluten free/casein free food items.
